Network launched to support trust and responsible innovation with personal data
Successful generation and management of personal data will be a major priority in the next internet growth phase, with new emerging services needing to assure a high level of trust and confidence in their customers in order to succeed.
In response to this, the Digital Catapult is hosting the Personal Data and Trust Network, launched in October 2014 in partnership with the Knowledge Transfer Network, Innovate UK, the EPSRC and RCUK Digital Economy theme hubs. The network aims to support the UK to become the global leader in trust and responsible innovation with personal data by building and nurturing a community that brings together a variety of contributors from industry, academia, the public sector, funders, research organisations and innovators.
In March, the Network held their inaugural workshop which was attended by over a 100 experts in the fields of personal data, privacy and trust. At the workshop, experts discussed the purposes and aims of the network, showcased perspectives from industry and examples from research and highlighted key priority areas for the network to address. The eight priority areas identified were:
- Digital Identity
- Economics
- Corporate Transformation
- Personal Information Management
- Social Innovation
- Legal and Regulation
- Design and Consent
- Health and Social Care
