Big Data: Risks and Scientific Opportunities
10 May 2017 | Brussels
16.00 – 17.30
The Guild Policy Lab on Big Data brings together some of their scientists who have vast experience on the field of risks and scientific opportunities related to the use of Big Data to bring some light to the following questions:
What is scientifically possible in the collection and use of Big Data, and how will this help citizens? What uses of big data will be prevalent over the next 10 years; and what abuses might happen? What (if any) are the limits of academic possibilities? What is the European added value in research on big data, and is it fully realised? Given the rapidly evolving field of big data, and its essentially interdisciplinary nature, are the structures of universities and of public funders sufficiently flexible to respond to the needs and demands of the field?
The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities was founded in 2016, and is composed of 18 leading universities across thirteen countries.
