Changing Risk in a Changing World
This event focuses on the ways in which the world is changing rapidly, and in ways that we cannot predict. The event organizers argue that change doesn’t happen in silos or straight lines. Rather, they believe that interactions between climate change, ecosystem fragility, disease outbreaks, rapid urbanisation, mass displacement, geo political instability, fuelled by the interconnectivity of communications, trade, financial systems and politics mean risk is growing and risk is changing.
Consquently, the organizers at the UCL Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction have invited the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Disaster Risk Reduction, Ms Mami Mizutori to explore the fast-changing landscape of disaster risk, the challenges, and how we can risk-proof our future. Join them from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, 14 January 2020. This event is free.
