External Champion discusses information security at CONSEC 2014

External Champion to the Partnership for Conflict, Crime and Security Research, Dr Tristram Riley-Smith, today presented to over 150 security professionals at CONSEC 2014.

Hosted by the Association of Security Consultants, it was an opportunity to discuss risk analysis, strategies to tackle cyber threats and the importance of quality products and services to counter crime.

In his presentation, Dr Riley-Smith discussed the perception that information security is just about technology, when one of the most important elements of cybersecurity research is a focus on human behaviour.

He also highlighted that the goal for the UK is to increase its share of security exports from four per cent to eight per cent by 2020. It is currently estimated that the global security market will have risen from £410bn in 2012 to £571bn by 2016.
