An examination of the tragic case of Rwanda as a theatre of humanitarian intervention in which the complexity of war is reduced to a moral confrontation between good and evil. The consequences of this approach are discussed in terms of the establishment of a false narrative that obscured the real dynamics of the conflict and served to legitimise ‘Africa’s first morally constituted tyranny’.
